Slayer quest

by Gunslinger the master thief

'Twas an innocent day, as innocent as any, and an adventurer who had
not fought in the realm for many moons returned for a day of combat. He
had heard of a new quest spanning the entire world, and wished to prove
his combat skills by conquering the formidable foes of this quest. He was
to be one of the first to battle the new enemies. A previous adventurer,
a mighty slayer who's travels are chronicaled far and wide across the realm
had done part of the great quest, but become stuck near the end at a
deadly trap.
Along with a samurai and a cow, the dwarf adventurer who wished to
prove his might searched for the only one to attempt the quest before him,
a powerful slayer. The slayer refused to reveal the true nature of the
quest, only giving them hints at certain parts. After much debating
between the three, the dwarf, strongest of the group, set out in search of
Mehal and Gangamas, two noble monsters who reside in the holy citadel.
After opening a door long closed to him, the dwarf traveled into a dark
chamber where encountered Mehal. She proved to be a challenging foe, using
strength and magical powers to try and defeat the dwarf, but his resilient
spirit (and perhaps good luck) got him through the fight. After defeating
Mehal, the dwarf acquired some excellent armor to help him in his quest.
Shortly after defeating Mehal, the dwarf again drew his powers
together and faced Gangamas. Gangamas had a potent needle which he stabbed
the dwarf many times with, but once again the dwarf conquered his foe and
obtained the needle for his own use. Having these items in his possession,
the dwarf again called to his companions who prepared to join him.
While his companions prepared for battle, the dwarf journeyed to
a great mountain where he used his rogue talents to sneak off with a valued
item. Using the items he had obtained, the dwarf worshiped the power of Nir
and crafted a powerful sword, Tine, which was inhabited by a cursed slyphe.
Along with Tine, the travelers made their way to the palace at Ix.
Searching the palace, they encountered an odd force field of some
sorts. After many hours of searching in vain for a way past the field,
the dwarf struck dead an innocent traveler for his cloak, which was able to
somehow shield him from the field. His companions obtained cloaks and
together the traveled into the dungeons of Ix.
The first thing they encountered there were odd chambers, whose
walls were covered by burn marks and ashes. One could not fathom the
intensity of the fire that must have caused this. The dwarf was the first
down into the chambers, and stepping into the first one, he heard a noise
and his senses sharpened. An immense fireball came flying at him and he
barely ducked out of the way. After careful travel through the caverns,
in which his companions helped greatly, the three made their way to a
peculiar oval shaped chamber.
A major feature of the room was a glass globe which glowed with
neon liquids and seemed unbreakable at first, but a suggestion by the
samurai was all that was needed to assist the dwarf in breaking the glass.
After breaking it, the dwarf was encircled by an odd green aura. Bravely
he approached a wall of fire and stepped through, luckily protected by his
aura. Tine, the sword, seemed pleased in the adventurers as they had
finally reached their final enemy, Pirnec. At this point it was up to the
dwarf alone. Trusting in Tine, the dwarf brazenly stepped into the room
where Pirnec sat waiting. For a long time, the dwarf attempted to damage
Pirnec, only to be turned back by a strong force surrounding him. After
much fighting, Tine communicated with the dwarf, telling him the secrets
he needed to defeat Pirnec.
Unfortunately, as the dwarf attempted to leave the room at one
point, he tripped and slid into the wall of fire, dealing him a fatal blow.
Returning to the town, the dwarf spoke a brief prayer and was restored to
life, but much weaker than before. Then going back to the dungeons of Ix,
the dwarf again broke the glass dome and renewed his aura of protection.
After more combat, the dwarf was beginning to damage his foe more, but
again the dwarf fell in battle to the might of Pirnec.
Disheartened and distressed, the dwarf gave up his quest. However,
he made a solemn swear to return to the quest.
Later that same night, the dwarf returned to honor his promise.
The slayer who earlier had refused to give the dwarf information was also
intent on doing the quest. The two quarreled and bickered, and finally
began killing some of the creatures they would have to kill in order to
return to the chamber of Pirnec. It did not take long for the dwarf to
fall in combat again. However, the dwarf was intent on seeing Pirnec
killed, be it by his hand or the slayer's. Thus the dwarf choose to assist
the slayer by sharing information that he had obtained in his feeble attempt
at slaying Pirnec. With this information and his natural power, the slayer
easily slew Pirnec, shifting the balance of power in the realm again to
the side of evil.
